Ok last Friday … we took a few hours off. We went to the State Fair of Texas. Both of us have not been in many years and honestly, I think we just wanted to get away from the phone for a few hours … even though I was caught several times giving bids and handling problems via cell phone. After spending $10 to park, $28 dollars to get in, and $40 on tickets … we were set. We took in the Auto buildings … even though I was disappointed. I remember as a young lad that they always had some kind of sci fi looking prototype cars of the future at the fair … this year … not so much. Just everyone car maker telling you their cars would run off of recylced horse poop and corn. We got a corn bog at Fletchers … that took 23 tickets. We got our pic with Big Tex … that was a small miracle in itself … the sun was at high noon, our height difference itself is hard enough to take a selfie … but then trying to get the Big Guy in the shot … this pic was awesome.

Down the Midway … I kept looking for the bearded lady and the worlds smallest man … but Lori kept telling me that it was not PC to have those attractions anymore. Again, dissapointed. I have to tell you  … the Fair has really cleaned up since we remember. I looks a lot like Six Flags now. Hmmm, smart thinking on someones part. The rides still look very dangerous and the carnival workers … well, they look the same too. Thank God! Something familiar!

Back down the Midway … pausing at the Cotton Bowl entrance to take a picture only one day prior to the Texas beat down of OU … again, thank you Jesus. A stroll through the Women’s museum … a funnel cake on a shaded bench … and we were done. It was quick … but I had responsibilities backat Pilot Point. It was abbreviated fun.

There he is … Bret Farve, old number 4 in his Pac uniform on the box cover of Madden 09!! Of course the day before the box was debuted … Farve came out in a Jet uniform.

This is the 20 year anniversary of the greatest electronic football game ever. There has been a lot of press about the famous Madden curse. The following year of a player showing up on a Madden box … has been less than stellar. The curse started with Eddie George in 2001 … and analysts say that this year will follow suit.

Makers of the game have already sent out a press release telling potential buyers that there will be a “farve patch” that will put Bret in a Jets uniform … or you can just play him in the Pac jersey. I’m sure that all of this hype around Farve, the curse, the jersey and the patch will only fuel sales of Madden 09 … released this week!!

Well, how about that … I was invited to be in my first fantasy football league. How cool is that. I know several that read my blog that are avid fantasy football owners who have never thought about asking me to join their leagues … perhaps it is because of my football prowess and excellent coaching abilities … afterall I have never coached a losing team. Granted I have only coached two teams … but we did have remarkable seasons and won championships … pish posh.

Also, how cool is my Jesus Football figurine … sold at Catholicshopper.com … I need one of these.  It’s not a very good hand off … but what do you think, he’s going to drop it?? Plus who else would play football in sandals.  Thanks to Eddie Lafuente … I am in the Texas League … it’s a facebook application. My team is the Pilot Point Desperados .. I like it. So, now I am studying to find out who I shold pick first in my draft on August 26. I hold my cards close to my chest on this one … but just know … T.O. will probably not be my first pick.

I’ve invited a few others to join this novice league … you should join so that my winning legacy as a coach will continue.  I’ll let my record speak for itself.
